WWE star Roman Reigns announces he has leukemia, taking leave of absence

One of the best WWE superstar Roman Reigns shocked the WWE Universe with surprising announcements that he’s been living with leukemia for 11 years, and unfortunately, it’s back. Due to this, he is forced to relinquish the Universal Championship.

However, he made it known that this is “no means a retirement speech.” He walked off from the arena by promising to fight leukemia and come back home to the WWE.

“My real name is Joe. And I’ve been living with leukemia for 11 years. And unfortunately, it’s back,” said a tearful Reigns.”

“And because the leukemia is back, I cannot fulfill that role. I can’t be that fighting champion, and I’m going to have to relinquish the WWE Universal Championship,” said Reigns (real name Joe Anoa’i) in a sentence that sent a palpable chill throughout the Dunkin Donuts Center.

According to sescoops.com, WWE issued the following statement:

“Tonight on Monday Night Raw, Roman Reigns (aka Joe Anoa’i) announced that he is relinquishing the WWE Universal Championship and taking a leave of absence from WWE as he once again fights leukemia, which had been in remission since late 2008. Reigns is taking his battle with leukemia public in an effort to raise awareness and funds for research in order to advance cures for the disease.”
